Fr James E. Goode, O.F.M. passed into eternal life on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the age of 81. At the time of his death, Fr. Jim was a resident at Mary Manning Walsh Home, in Manhattan, New York City, and had been seriously ill for some time.

Fr. Isaac J. Calicchio, O.F.M. passed into eternal life on February 5, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on September 2, 1930, and was baptized John. His current assignment was Teresian Home in Albany, New York.

We are sorry to inform you that our brother, Fr. Aubert Marie Picardi, O.F.M, passed to eternal life on Thursday, January 20, 2022, while in hospice care in Boston, Massachusetts. Fr. Aubert was 91 years old.

On Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the 5:00 PM parish mass, our brother, Friar Joshua Critchley, O.F.M. was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop James Massa, Ph.D., D.D., at the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua, Manhattan, New York City. Bishop Massa is an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn and the Rector of St. Joseph Seminary, Dunwoodie, Yonkers, New York.

Fr. Alexis Anania, OFM passed into eternal life at the age of 90 years old. Funeral arrangements are pending.

On Thursday, 15 July 2021, at Collegio Internationale San Lorenzo da Brindisi (Rome), the General Chapter of the Order of Friars Minor elected brother Jimmy Zammit to the government of the Order as Definitor. We will keep him in our prayers on this new role as a servant towards the Franciscan Order.

Friar Michael Perry, O.F.M., Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor, has appointed Friar William Spencer, O.F.M., former Provincial Minister of the Province of the Sacred Heart (USA), as Visitator General to our province.

Fr. Clement passed to his eternal reward on June 4, 2021. He was ten days short of his 102nd birthday.

Friar Roland Petinge, OFM, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

On Sunday, September 15, we received word that Friar Giles Barreda, O.F.M., a member of the fraternity at St. Christopher Friary, passed to his eternal reward at Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston. Friar Giles was 86 years old. He was born in Cambridge, MA, and had an extensive ministry as a friar and a priest. After his ordination in 1961, Friar Giles spent many years as a missionary, twenty-one years in our own Central American missions, and a few years in Galapagos, Ecuador and in South America, as well as Africa and Japan. Upon returning to the states, Friar Giles spent some time ministering in our own provincial parishes.

Two of our province’s postulants were invested with the Franciscan habit and began their novitiate at the Sanctuary of San Damiano in Assisi, Italy.

On Saturday, September 7, 2019, Friars Daniel Cavalieri, Carl Green, and John (Jack) Sidoti, OFM, Professed their First Vows in the Order of Friars Minor, Province of the Immaculate Conception at a Solemn Concelebrated Mass at 5:00 PM at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Sullivan Street, New York City.
